At Thunder Lacrosse, our program is designed to support the learning and enjoyment of our younger players. 

 

There are three different approaches we take, depending on the age of your child:

Soft Lax (Peanut) Junior (Paperweight, Tyke & Novice) and Senior (Peewee & Bantam)

GOALIES: For those participating as a goalie (Novice, Peewee & Bantam) in our SMLA lacrosse league, please register and pay for the program. You will need to forward a message to Stouffville.lacrosse@gmail.comindicating your child’s interest in playing in net for the season. If your child participates in our program for a minimum of 6 weeks plus day of champions, you will receive at 50% rebate at the end of our season.

Goalies will need to supply their own helmet with cage and hockey gloves. Protective equipment and stick will be provided by the SMLA.

 

SOFT LAX Division: (2016-2017)

We run our Peanut division as an introduction to group sports, focusing on lacrosse skills and rules. Everyone requires a helmet, gloves, running shoes & lacrosse stick.

Peanut player registration includes:

  • 9 weeks of programming

  • Snack after each session

  • Team T-Shirts

  • Medals on Day of Champions (June 23 final day of program)

 

 

JUNIOR Division: (2012-2015)

We run our Paperweight & Tyke divisions as a 4 on 4 program WITH MINIMAL CONTACT.

Junior Division is a fast-paced format played on a full-sized arena floor. 

Junior contact consists of equal pressure, body-positioning, place and push only.

All Junior player registration includes:

  • 9 weeks of 1 hour programming

  • Team Jersey

  • Freezies after games

  • Medal on Day of Champions (June 23rd final day of program)

 

 

JUNIOR Division: NOVICE (2010 - 2011)

We run our Novice division as  5 on 5 program WITH MINIMAL CONTACT.

Junior Division is a fast-paced format played on a full-sized arena floor. 

Junior contact consists of equal pressure, body-positioning, place and push only.

All Junior player registration includes:

  • 9 weeks of programming (3 weeks of 60 min. + 6 weeks of 75 min. programming)

  • Team Jersey

  • Freezies after games

  • Medal on Day of Champions (June 24th final day of program)

 

 

SENIOR Division: PEEWEE (2008- 2009)

Our Peewee  League is a fast-paced format played on a full-sized arena floor. 

Senior Division is played full contact.

All Senior player registration includes:

  • 9 session of 75 min. programming   (3 weeks of 60 min. + 6 weeks of 75 min. programming)

  • Freezies after games

  • Team Jersey

  • Promotional gift on Day of Champions (June 24)

 

 

SENIOR Division: BANTAM (2006- 2007)

Our Bantam & Peewee  League is a fast-paced format played on a full-sized arena floor. 

Senior Division is played full contact.

All Senior player registration includes:

  • 9 session of 60 minute programming ( 2 skills + 7 game only nights) 

  • Freezies after games

  • Team Jersey

  • Promotional gift on Day of Champions (June 24)

Season: April 28/29th - June 23/24th

 

Important Information:

 

 

  • Combined program of skills and games

 

  • Recreational introduction to the sport of lacrosse

 

  • Emphasis on learning the sport in a positive and fun atmosphere

 

  • The program is conducted in the spirit of cooperative competition

 

  • This program allows players to practice and play against players of their age and skill level from the ages of 2 to 14

 

  • Plays out of Stouffville Arena 

 

  • Most hockey equipment can be used for lacrosse. The only lacrosse specific equipment that is required is the stick & rib guards.
